Steve's hometown is Northbrook, Illinois. He joined the Navy Reserve in 1966 while a sophomore college student at St. Mary’s University, Winona, Minnesota. On active duty in 1967, then continuous active duty from 1968-1994. Completed Navy flight training in 1969 as an unrestricted Naval Aviator. Flew variety of Navy aircraft, preferring helicopters. Commanding Officer of carrier based helicopter squadron in the 80’s, and Commanding Officer of NAS Sigonella in Sicily in the 90’s.

 

Business career after retiring from the USN as a Captain in 1994. Moved from San Diego area to Franklin, TN in 2016. Life member of the VFW. Served on the VFW’s National Legislative Committee representing California for several years. Currently the VFW Post 4893 Service Officer.
